With its bold design and distinctive style, the Polaris Slingshot® is one of the most exciting vehicles on the market. After you've spent a few weeks driving around in this open-air roadster, you're faced with an unexpected challenge: how do you wash it? At Gina's Motorsports of Monee, our team has put together a few tips to help. Keep reading to find out how to keep your Slingshot® looking its best. Use Gentle Water Pressure

When you're washing a Slingshot®, it's crucial to use gentle water pressure — a high-pressure stream can damage the finish, radiator fins, wheel bearings, and electrical connections. Polaris recommends that you use a bucket filled with water or a garden hose. To start, rinse off the vehicle, making sure to get rid of any salt or dirt build-up. Avoid directing water at the exhaust, air intakes, heat shields, and engine compartment.

Wash By Hand With Mild Cleaning Products

Once your Slingshot® is rinsed off, use a mild soap, water, and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth to wipe down the exterior. When you need to clean off the speedometer lens, instrument clusters, and other gauges, do not use alcohol or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the plastic. After you're done cleaning the inside and outside, rinse or wipe down with a clean, damp cloth to remove soap residue.

Dry the Air Intakes and Exhaust Pipe

Once you're done washing your Slingshot®, spend some extra time drying the areas around the air intakes and exhaust pipe openings. Use a dry, non-abrasive cloth and remove as much water as possible. This helps reduce the risk that moisture will get in and cause damage.

Clean the Tires

Polaris doesn't recommend driving the Slingshot® on sanded or salted roads. If you can't avoid it, make sure to wash the tires and body immediately afterward. Spray down the tires with a hose to remove sand from the treads; this ensures that they can grip the road safely on your next ride. It also prevents the tires from throwing sand at the body and underside of the vehicle. Rinse off any salt or dirt that has accumulated to prevent corrosion.

Wax the Slingshot®

When your Slingshot is dry, apply a thin coat of wax. Wax the hood, upholstery, chassis, and any plastic parts using products approved by Polaris. This helps prevent damage and keeps each surface looking sharp.

With proper care and cleaning, the Polaris Slingshot® can provide years of fun. Wash your roadster any time you see signs of dirt, and it will always look its best.
