Now that summer is here, it’s time to get out there and do some off-roading with your ATV. Illinois has plenty of great places where you can take your ATV for recreational riding purposes. Make your weekends more exciting with an ATV adventure!

Harpole’s Heartland Lodge (Nabo, IL)
As the biggest trail complex in Illinois, Heartland Lodge offers over 60 miles of ATV trails on 1,200 acres of land. This ATV park is suitable for beginners and experts alike, with plenty of up-and-down terrain to make riding fun. The Heartland Lodge itself offers high-class comfortable accommodations with an optional meal package for paying guests so that you can make a full weekend out of your ATV adventure. The park is open year-round, with more limited hours during the hunting season and holidays.
Williams Hill Pass Association (Harrisburg, IL)
This ATV park in southern Illinois offers 27 miles of gorgeous, well-maintained forested and open-field trails that are perfect for ATV riding, with a swamp run and mud puts. There’s even a kid-friendly course for the young ones! The park is open year-round except during hunting season. The 220-acre park is located on private property and surrounded by the majestic Shawnee National Forest. You can even opt to stay the night at the park’s campgrounds.
Little Egypt Off-Road (Marion, IL)
This facility in Williamson County is a family-friendly off-road park with 900 acres of different terrain types. There’s a kids’ track near the club office, along with 50 miles of open trails for general ATV riding. Wooded hills and open fields provide stunning views for your ride. Camping is currently not available but should be in the future.
Hillbillie Ranch (Jerseyville, IL)
A whimsically-named park in the southern part of the state, Hillbillie Ranch has 40 miles of trail through the forest. There are mud drags, play pits, stream crossings and open fields to make for an interesting and varied riding experience. The 17-acre Mud Plex is a particularly popular draw for mudding enthusiasts. Camping is available on the grounds, and there is also a general store, but you’ll want to call ahead for hours and availability.
Sunset Ridge Motocross Park (Walnut, IL)
Got a competitive streak? This track has race days and practice days so that you can improve your riding before you compete with others. Sunset Ridge is perfect for those who have sport ATVs and want to explore all their features thoroughly. The park is located in north-central Illinois and the track itself measures 1.6 miles long. Primitive camping is available.
Rocky Glen OHV Park (Rockford, IL)
This park is located in northern Illinois and is situated on 120 acres of land. Three different scramble levels offer beginner, intermediate and advanced riding opportunities, so there’s something for everyone here. There are over 20 miles of trails offering a variety of terrain and the park is located along the Rock River, so you’ll have plenty of beautiful natural vistas to admire.
